County council warns people in Lancaster and Morecambe about parking fine scam

Lancashire County Council want to make people aware of a new phone text scam requesting payment for a parking fine.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said on Facebook: “Please be aware of a new phone text scam requesting payment for a parking fine, known as a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

“We will never send a text or any other message to your phone about parking fines – if you receive one it is a scam.

“The scam text provides a link to a website or asks you to call a phone number in an attempt to gain your personal details.

“If you have received a genuine PCN, visit https://lancashire.gov.uk/, or call the Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 6713.”
