Best selling crime writer sets her latest novel in Morecambe after 'totally falling for the place'

Carol Wyer has set her new gripping psychological thriller, Behind Closed Doors, in the resort, which she says she "fell for” on her very first visit.

Wyer, who hails from Staffordshire, fell in love with the Morecambe area in 2020 and bought a property in the Lune Valley where she now pens her novels.

"The first time I visited Morecambe, I totally fell for the place,” she said.

"I returned day after day after day and walked the length of the promenade taking in the spectacular views across the bay.

"It wasn't long before I decided I to set my future books in and around this area and with an idea for a standalone thriller bubbling in my head, I began writing."

Behind Closed Doors is described as a heart-pounding story concerning the kidnapping of a journalist's stepdaughter, which forces her to face up to her own dark past.

Wyer's crime series have sold well over a million copies and been translated into nine languages. Wyer herself has earned the accolade, Queen of Police Procedurals., and several of her novels have been number one best-sellers in the UK, USA and Australia.

She is USA Today best selling author and winner of the People’s Book Prize Award.

A move from writing comedies to the ‘dark side’ in 2017, saw the introduction of popular DI Robyn Carter in Little Girl Lost and proved that Carol had found her true niche.

Behind Closed Doors, which was released on December 6 in paperback, eBook and audiobook, is her first standalone psychological thriller.
