21. Shadow
Shadow, Collie Crossbreed , male , five years seven months old. Shadow has had a difficult start to life originally from Romania he has seen only the bad side of humans so is very wary about meeting new people he can display fear aggression so is looking for a new home with people who are very dedicated and willing to work with his issues. Shadow finds it very difficult to allow new people (visitors) into his home so safety measures would need to be in place. Shadow is a very complex dog and is not suitable for a first time dog owner or in a busy house hold with children. Ideally a single female owner with experience would be best. Shadow loves other dogs if introduced properly he would be happy to live with a new doggie friend and we feel this will give him more confidence in a new home. Please be aware Shadow has bitten in the past and due to this can not be placed in a home with anyone living or visiting the home under 18 years old. Photo: Animal Care Lancaster
Stan, Springer Spaniel Crossbreed , male , 15 years 10 months old. Stan has been with Animal Care for a few years and is a very difficult dog. Due to a lack of training and socialisation in his youth he reacts very badly towards other dogs, cats, cars and strangers when on a lead. He does however love to play with other dogs off lead and is wonderful with the staff. Stan is very difficult to walk on lead and would be better in a home where long walks are not essential and instead a large enclosed safe garden for him to enjoy would be less stressful. Stan can take a while to get to know you but once he gets a bond he is very loveable. Stan’s new owners would need to be able to understand his issues and be able to keep him safely away from strangers and visitors until he feels more relaxed. Due to Stan being unpredictable he is not suitable to live with children under the age of 16 years. Please note Stan has bitten in the past and when on lead and stressed he can be very difficult to control. Stan was rehomed a few months ago but was unable to stay due to car and shadow chasing and also being very difficult to house train. Photo: Animal Care Lancaster
Trevor, Lurcher , male , nine years six months old. The lovely Trevor came into Animal Care via the dog pound and therefore very little is currently known about him and his history. He is a friendly boy who is super excited to see the staff every morning. Poor old Trevor only has three legs and Animal Care are unsure as to when or why it happened. A few month ago staff noticed he was struggling to walk as far as he would normally go so were advised by vets to have X-rays. This showed a very small nick at the bottom of his spine possibly due to wear and tear. Trevor has since been placed onto pain killers which help him but can have side effects. He needs to be the only animal in his new home and with adults only who are experienced with reactive dogs. Despite having three legs he is a very strong boy. The staff walk Trevor with a muzzle at all times due to his prey drive and dislike towards some dogs, this would need to be continued by his new owners. Trevor is always happy to say hello to everyone, he loves to play and is desperate for someone to give him a chance. Photo: Animal Care Lancaster
