Mum-to-be Vicky leaves Chamber '˜in safe hands'

The manager of Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce says she will be 'back before you know it' as a temporary boss steps in to cover maternity leave.

Vicky Lofthouse is expecting her first child next month, and the Chamber has recruited John O’Neill to steer the organisation during her absence.

John joins the Chamber from a background in corporate and publics relations, sales, marketing and administration.

He has worked for multi-national companies such as Daimler-Benz and Nissan as well as Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the travel and tourism field.

For the past 15 years John has been running his own companies in travel and tourism as well as kitchen supply and fitting.

He has spent 25 years living in Australia but has a Lancastrian background 
and says he is a passionate supporter of the local 
area.

He said: “I can’t wait to get stuck into the role and in particular meet the members.

“The Chamber has an exciting year ahead and I am honoured to lead it during this time.”

Vicky said: “I would like to say a temporary farewell as I head off at the end of January to become a first time mummy, but don’t worry the Chamber is in safe hands and I will be back before you know it.”

Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce is an independent membership organisation representing over 400 local businesses.

The Chamber’s principle objective is to create a viable economic base for business development.

It also offers an active business resource and delivers value-added services to its members.
