MP’s fears over city’s rail service

LANCASTER MP Eric Ollerenshaw is urging residents and commuters to have their say over the future of Lancaster’s rail service.

Mr Ollerenshaw fears changes in Network Rail’s plans for the West Coast Main Line could lead to Lancaster being removed from some of the Glasgow to London services, leading to disrupted journeys for travellers in the city.

“There are a number of options being looked at in the consultation and some potentially good news – for example the signalling and capacity around Lancaster station are recognised as being poor and it is suggested this should be upgraded,” he said.
