Warton Road in Carnforth is set to be closed to allow United Utilities to carry out some investigation work on its sewers.

Starting on Monday, June 16, Warton Road will be closed between Shore Road and Midland Terrace between 7pm and 6am for five days.

Every morning to minimise the disruption workmen will open the road back up to allow the daily traffic to flow normally.

Cathy Charnock, United Utilities project coordinator said: “This work is vital to allow us to plan for future upgrade work on our sewer network in the area, which in the long term will help us play our part to improve bathing waters in Morecambe Bay.

“That said we’re doing all we can to strike the right balance between getting this initial work completed, whilst minimising disruption on the local community and commuters.

“The decision was taken to carry out the work during night time hours.”

“The road will be reopened every morning from 6am to allow everyone to get on with their daily routine.”

When Warton Road is closed a diversion route will be in place.
