Morecambe lifeboat called to “men adrift in dinghy”

HM Coastguard received a call from a member of the public at 1.05pm on Thursday August 13, and requested Morecambe’s RNLI Inshore Lifeboat to investigate.

But upon arrival at the scene west of the Stone Jetty in Morecambe Bay, the crew found three fishermen in a dinghy.

They did not require assitance.

Kevin Jackson, Morecambe RNLI volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager: said “Although this was a false alarm it is better to be safe than sorry.

“The crews were happy in the knowledge that the fishermen were safe and sound and did not require any assistance this time.

“We would encourage anybody who genuinely believes that someone is at risk, to respond as this caller did and report it.”
