Morecambe managed to pick up two points in their losing draw at home to Fulwood and Broughton on Saturday in the Northern Premier League.
Batting first, Fulwood reached 263-4 with the impressive Simon Kerrigan finishing on 108 not out.
However, Morecambe did make an early breakthrough, reducing the visitors to 1-1 when Rana Pratap Singh Thakur Shiv (0) was dismissed, he was caught by Reuben Orr off Luke Jongwe (3-53).
Captain Mark Smith (22) came in and along with Kerrigan they took the score to 47 before the Fulwood skipper was bowled by Louis Backhouse (1-14).
That brought Matthew Smith (55) to the crease and he and Kerrigan combined brilliantly, Smith was eventually bowled by Jongwe but the score was now 191-3 and put the visitors in control.
Charlie Rossiter managed a knock of 15 before falling victim to Jongwe in what was the last wicket of the innings, with Fulwood finishing on 263-4 from their 50 overs.
Morecambe made a reasonable start to their reply, reaching 35 before Alex Briggs (19) was bowled by Chris Brookes (2-37).
Gurdeep Farma hit a knock of 27 before being caught by Charlie Rossiter, again off Brookes, as the home team moved to 56-2. In came Jamie Heywood, and between him and Jongwe they started to put pressure on the Fulwood attack, taking the score to 162 before Heywood (54) was caught by Jon Fenton off Dominic Jackson (3-30).
Jackson struck again to remove Jongwe (77), caught by Rob Dingle as Morecambe were reduced to 196-4 but with a real sniff of victory.
However, Daniel Edwards was then run out for just eight runs and Gert Maartens (1) fell LBW to Jackson, leaving the hosts on 205-6, handing the initiative to Fulwood.
Rueben Orr didn’t even trouble the scorers before being caught by Rossiter off Arbab Munir (1-53) as Morecambe stumbled to 210-7. This proved to be the final wicket, captain Ryan Pearson (10no) and Jamie Cassidy (8no) helping Morecambe see out the remaining overs, finishing on 218-7 and claiming a losing draw.
