The parents of the Morecambe Carnival Queen have spoken of their pride as she takes the crown a year on from battling a rare infection.
One year ago today (May 1) little Millie Potter-Thomas was diagnosed with Myelitis, a rare spinal infection.
The eight-year-old collapsed in front of her dad, Andy Thomas, and spent 11 weeks in hospital. The rare infection began with pins and needles and gradually Millie lost the ability to walk.
Now Millie is wearing her crown with pride and is loving every minute of the carnival, sharing the glory with carnival King, Jacob Sykes.
Andy Thomas said he couldn't be prouder of his daughter.
He said: "She has recovered so quickly and we are both very proud of her. It has been a very emotional day."
More to come.
