Morecambe Bay flood warning

People have been warned to stay away from the coast and told some properties may be affected.

The astronomical tide of 4.92m AoD at Heysham and 4.65m AoD at Barrow was forecast to have an additional surge of 0.35m.

High water can be expected for two hours before and after the peak.

High tide at 11.39pm on April 6 was also due to be above flood alert levels.

Tidal spray and onshore flooding may also occur to roads.

Environment Agency officers were out on Wednesday ensuring flood defences were in good working order, monitoring sea levels and wind directions.
