More Music releases summer season events

More Music's new summer term of music sessions, gigs and events begins this week.

Starting on April 26 is the start of the summer season for More Music with main events and workshops taking place.

For anyone interested in making music, More Music has lots of opportunities to learn and play music with like-minded people. There are weekly classes covering many musical areas for all ages, from singing, guitar, beatboxing and rap to Chinese music, jazz, folk and samba.

More Music’s venue The Hothouse in Morecambe will play host to musicians from a wide range of genres. On May 14, 9Bach will perform Welsh folk music updated with contemporary arrangements.

Tibetan folk singer Ngawang Lodup performs on May 28, a musician who has shared a stage with the Dalai Lama. Tipping Point, featuring Mercury Music Prize nominee James Mainwearing of Roller Trio, play on July 2, bringing a expansive and experimental approach to jazz.

Summer is the festival season and More Music has two fantastic free events taking place in Morecambe. On Saturday June 25 from noon until 4pm, the West End Festival in Regent Park celebrates the best of the local community with live music, stalls, street entertainment and fun activities for all ages. The Catch The Wind Kite Festival on July 16-17 attracts thousands to Morecambe promenade to see spectacular kites of all shapes and sizes, hear great live music and take part in arts and crafts activities.
