Rico, seven months old, an Alexandrine parrot, owned by Lindsay Butcher and her four children, flew out of the window of their home towards Standen Gate.

He was seen on the Ridge estate and Condor Green.

Lindsay said: “I put a photo and description on Lancaster Past and Present page on Facebook and I cannot believe the response I got.

People from all over Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham were messaging me.

“On Sunday, six days after he went missing, Rico had been found absolutely exhausted in a lady’s garden in Condor Green who took him to the vets.

“Rico would never have been found if it wasn’t for everyone liking and sharing the post.”
