High tide on the river Lune in Lancaster on Friday left a van parked outside a pub submerged underwater.

The water can rise to the front door of The Golden Ball in Snatchems during high tide, with vehicles having to vacate the road in front of the pub.

Staff had to act quickly to stop the van floating away at around lunchtime on Friday, January 23.

Landlord Stephen Hunt said: “I got the driver out and warmed him up in the pub after tethering the van to the railings.”
