Just 14 months ago, India Faulkner 34, appeared on the front cover of The Visitor after she went into a very sudden and unexpected early labour with her second child, with only her daughter, Jazmine, seven years old at the time, to assist her.

India recalls her absolute pleasure of becoming a mum again but the horror she felt of being photographed to appear in both local and national newspapers, magazines and social media. India, who lives in Bare, said: “It was a proper whirlwind and we were featured in The Metro newspaper and Pick Me Up magazine.

“However, I wasn’t feeling great about myself just days after having a baby. I wasn’t prioritising my weight.

“I had a friend who lost five stone in one year with Slimming World and she said to me ‘when you are ready why not pop into your local group’?

“I went to the William Mitchell Slimming World group in Morecambe with my mum to see what it was like, although with some hesitation.

“My mum lost three and a half stone and I lost three stone two pounds within six months. I couldn’t advise anyone of a better way to lose weight. With a bit of effort and support anyone can stick to the plan.”

India was so inspired she decided to become a Slimming World consultant and help others change their lives too.

She will be opening her own group at the University of Cumbria, in The Alexandra Building, on Tuesday, September8, at 7.30pm.

She said: “I will make a point of showing my story to the group and I’m thrilled to be able to help students and the local community to change their lives through losing weight.” India can be contacted on 07983 960122 for more information.
