A young dancer is having the time of her life as she tip toes her way to the Nutcracker stage.
Elizabeth Dalby, from Melling, has been rehearsing for the part of the Mother and Arabian Dancer in the Nutcracker.
The 15-year-old, who attends Yorkshire Rose Academy of Dance and JB School of Dance in Morecambe, was one of the lucky ones to get through to the final auditions and eventually land a part in the performance presented by English Youth Ballet.
The ballet at the Buxton Opera House from November 13-14 will star international principal dancers – Amy Drew, Adele Robbins, Monica Tapiador, Richard Read, Brenden Bratulic, Julianne Rice-Oxley, Oliver Speers and Steven Wheeler.
All the soloist and corps de ballet roles in the production will be performed by 91 of the finest dancers (aged eight – 18) from the North West, including Elizabeth.
English Youth Ballet (EYB) held a huge audition for the ballet earlier this year.
More than 200 young hopeful dancers turned up to the two auditions which were held at Buxton Opera House.
Director and founder of EYB, Miss Janet Lewis MBE said: “ EYB is all about providing extra performance experience to young dancers.
“We saw a very pleasing standard at the auditions and it was lovely to see lots of enthusiasm.”
Mum Leah Dalby couldn’t be more happier for her daughter who has landed her dream role in the performance.
She said: “We have had such a positive experience with EYB, they are extremely thoughtful and caring about the dancers.
“It has been a very exciting time for Elizabeth, she has been rehearsing at weekends and during half term, which again shows how thoughtful EYB are.
“I’m really happy for her, obviously it was sad at the time seeing the other children who didn’t get through.
“But Elizabeth works really hard and I can’t wait for the performance.”
Nutcracker comes to Buxton Opera House for four performances only on Friday November 13 at 2pm and 7.30pm and Saturday November 14 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
