During a Morecambe Town Council meeting Sergeant Lindsay Brown discussed how the future could possibly look for Shrimps games.

Sergeant Brown said: “We are looking at protecting all matches in the future if we need to.

“Fans coming to Morecambe in large numbers have usually been trouble free.

“Morecambe is an enemy of no one from now up until the end of the season.

“We pulled in resources from out of the area just to make sure we had enough to deal with the situation.”

Only one public banning order has been issued in Morecambe which related to an incident at the game against AFC Wimbledon in January this year.

Sergeant Brown said: “That is the first football banning order that we have issued in Morecambe.

“Morecambe is a very friendly ground and we want it to be kept that way.”
