Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was attacked by a group of masked youths on a cycle track.

The lone 16-year-old was assaulted on the track close to Euston Grove, Morecambe at around 7.50pm on December 4. Officers say he was punched in the face and then kicked while he was curled up on the ground trying to protect himself.

The group of seven or eight youths wearing balaclavas or face masks ran off in the direction of Morrisons when shouted at by a dog walker nearby.

PC Simon Harrison said: “We would ask the public, if they witnessed the incident, to get in contact with us. We would also appeal to the individual who shouted at the group to make contact.”

Police say the group were wearing dark-coloured track-suits, one of them being blue Armani, another being black Adidas. Call police on 101.
