Man’s alley hammer robbery ordeal

A man was threatened with a hammer and robbed in the street, police said.

The 40-year-old victim was called over to an alleyway on Brunswick Road, Heysham, by a man claiming to have lost his dog.

Once in the alleyway the man threatened the victim with a hammer and demanded that he hand over cash.

The man handed over £30 before the robber ran away down the alley.

The robber is described as mixed race, around 6ft 2 tall of a medium build, thought to be in his 30s and spoke with a Manchester accent. He was wearing a dark blue puffer jacket worn with the hood up and was possibly wearing gloves.

DC Trevor Walker of Lancaster CID said: “We are appealing to anyone with information about this man or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us.

The incident happened at 9pm on Saturday, January 17.
