Man threatens to jump from bridge

EMERGENCY services raced to Carlisle Bridge in Lancaster where a man was threatening to jump into the river below.

Police received a call to the railway bridge, which crosses the River Lune, at 3.50pm today, Tuesday.

They were joined in racing to the scene by the firefighters, the Coastguard, paramedics and British Transport Police.

The man was later talked down and taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary at about 5pm.
