Man robbed on canal towpath

A MAN was robbed before being pushed into Lancaster canal in the Ridge area of the city.

The incident occured on February 12 between 10pm and 10.25pm, when the man, from the local area, was approached by two men as he went onto the canal towpath from Ridge Street Bridge.

The two offenders, who had their faces covered, grabbed the man and stole his laptop computer before pushing him into the canal.

They then made off in a dark coloured hatchback car in Green Street.

The man did not suffer any serious injuries but has been left very shaken following the experience.

Detective Constable Paul Donnelly from Lancaster CID said: “This is an appalling incident and the people responsible must be caught.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police.”
