A MAN caught with £12,000 worth of amphetamine in a car park has been jailed.
A member of the public spotted Jonathan Bye, from Lancaster, acting suspiciously in the car park of McDonalds at Fleetwood’s Freeport shopping centre in October 2010.
When officers attended and carried out a stop check they discovered 44-year-old Bye had 1kg of amphetamine in his possession.
Appearing at Preston Crown Court on May 30, Bye, of Lune Street, Lancaster, was jailed for 30 months after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
Detective Constable Steve Craig of Lancaster CID, said: “This was a substantial amount of drugs and we believe that Bye had travelled down from Lancaster to Fleetwood to make the purchase and was then planning to travel back to the city and sell the drugs on there.
“Thankfully he was spotted by a passer-by, who thought there was something amiss, and we were able to prevent these drugs from making their way on to our streets.
“Drugs blight our communities and bring other crime with them so I hope that this sentence serves as a warning to anyone looking to make money from other people’s misery – we are cracking down on dealers and putting them behind bars.”
