Man injured after car crashes into lamppost

A man has been airlifted to hospital with neck injuries after an accident on Broadway in Morecambe.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 9.07am on Wednesday, to reports of a car hitting a lamppost.

Witnesses said a Citroen Picasso had crashed into a lamp post and the car bonnet was crushed with the driver still in the vehicle.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service were on the scene.

The man, believed to be 48-years-old, was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Police closed Broadway off and were asking motorists to avoid the area.
