AN elderly Lancaster man died at the wheel of the car he was driving on a rural road.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to reports of a one-vehicle collision on Aldcliffe Road, near Aldcliffe, at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.
But on arrival at the scene on a bend heading southbound past Aldcliffe Hall, they found the 72-year-old driver dead.
It is believed he died after falling ill at the wheel of the Honda Accord, which had ploughed into a hedge.
Police closed the road for three hours.
