Man charged after Carnforth crossbow incident

A man has been charged following an incident with a crossbow in Carnforth on Wednesday night.

Joseph Waring, 30, of Highfield Road, Carnforth, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court this morning, Friday.

A 32-year-old man from Carnforth who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 32-year-old woman who was also arrested was released with no further action.

One man suffered minor injuries after the incident.

Police were called to Dunkirk Avenue at around 6.45pm after reports a man had been injured with the weapon.

Part of the street was cordoned off with a police helicopter also seen circling the scene.
