Man, 32, sexually assaulted in park

Officers in Wigan are appealing for witnesses after a man was sexually assaulted in Mesnes Park.

Shortly after 5.20pm on Friday, May 27, police were called by a member of the public after they came across the distressed victim.

The 32-year-old had been walking through the park from the café to the exit on Bridgeman Terrace when he was grabbed from behind by two men who then sexually assaulted him.

There is currently no description of the men.

Detective Constable Cameron Hackett, from GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the park at the time of this offence, or near to Bridgeman Terrace, and may have seen something which could help our investigation.

“The victim was understandable very distressed and we continue to offer him support whilst he helps officers with enquiries.

“Patrols have also been taking place in the area.”
