Lucky escape for fisherman trapped in Arnside

A fisherman was pulled to safety after venturing out too far and becoming stuck in wet sand.

The 73 year-old was on an annual fishing trip with friends at Arnside estuary on December, 30.

When the Blackpool man tried to get a better line on his rod he became stuck.

Friends pulled him to safety using a life ring. North West Ambulance, Arnside and Kendal fire crew arrived shortly after 11am to treat the man who was suffering from exhaustion and exposure to the elements.
