The accolade means Rachel and Ben will hold the positions of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet from September this year, assisting the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire during formal duties including Royal visits to the County.

William joined the Army Cadet Force in 1989 and has conducted various recruitment drives to ensure the detachment in Garstang stayed open. He has also been a keen supporter of the Poppy Appeal.

He said: ‘I am still in shock after being informed I was to receive this award. It’s fantastic to receive recognition for doing something I’ve always enjoyed doing – I’m lost for words.’

Rachel joined the Combined Cadet Force contingent at Kirkham Grammar School in 2013. Benjamin joined the Army Cadets in 2012, as soon as he was old enough.
