Long term supporter of Lancashire Fire and Rescue charity honoured

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s head of administration, Dave Clegg, has been honoured at the Spirit of Fire - The Fire Fighters Charity Awards in London in recognition of his long term support of the charity.

Supporter Of The Year – Non-Uniform Staff award was presented to Dave at a ceremony at One Great George Street in Westminster.

After the ceremony he joined other nominees and winners for a reception at 10 Downing Street hosted by Home Secretary, Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP.

The Spirit of Fire - The Fire Fighters Charity recognises the support and dedication of firefighters and fire and rescue service personnel from across the UK.

The event saw the presentation of 11 awards – including a Special Recognition award for Dany Cotton, the Commissioner of London Fire Brigade, for her contribution in promoting positive mental health across the fire service.

Speaking of Dave’s Supporter of The Year – Non-Uniform Staff award, chief executive of The Fire Fighters Charity, Dr Jill Tolfrey, said: “Dave’s award is thoroughly deserved, as a volunteer Station Rep at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Dave works tirelessly to organise an array of fundraising events each year, as well as taking on some impressive personal challenges.

“He has run the London Marathon, kayaked from Preston to Lancaster and set up his own series of 10k races.

“Dave also works hard to raise awareness of the Charity amongst his colleagues, helping others to access services .

“Dave is a fantastic ambassador for the charity.”
