Little Layla Grace Davies was born on the same day as the new royal prince – just.
Her mum, Paula Baldwin, gave birth at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary at 11.59pm on Monday, July 22, just hours after the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Layla surprised mum Paula and dad Alan Davies, who also have a son Max, aged two, by turning up two days early weighing 6lb 10oz.
Paula, 38, of St Peter’s Road, Lancaster, said: “We knew from quite early on that I was due at a similar time as William and Kate’s baby, but I don’t think they ever announced a due date.
“Then I went into labour on Sunday and Kate went in on Monday morning and we knew it could be the same day.
“But a minute later and she would have been born on the 23rd.”
Paula, who works with children with learning disabilities at Lancashire County Council added that it was “really lovely” for her daughter to share a birthday with a future King.
“We will put some of the newspaper cuttings into a memory box and will also be applying for one of the royal pennies to mark the occasion,” she said.
