A lightning bolt struck a school building during a storm causing £3k damage.
Heysham High School’s design and technology building was hit by the lightning at 12.45am on Thursday, July 2.
The strike caused damage to the roof tiles and to circuit boards inside, a spokesman for the school on Limes Avenue in Morecambe said.
The spokesman said: “It caused very little interruption to the running of the school because our technicians and site staff were incredible, but it caused approximately £3000 in replacement tiles and IT network equipment.
“The phone system and the computer system were down in the morning but were up and running within half an hour.
“The lightning strike didn’t have any effect on pupils learning, it was nothing that couldn’t be easily fixed.
“It could have been a lot worse!”
