Customers have complained that they have been struggling to use the cinema due to the lift being out of order for so long.

One mum of a disabled daughter contacted the Guardian to say how disgusted she was that the cinema hadn’t resolved the problem.

She said: “My daughter is in a wheelchair and we cannot access the cinema without the lift. It’s not good enough.”

The cinema has six screens, the majority of which are on the first floor.

Some customers have reported the lift to have been out of action for as much as two years.

A spokesman for Vue Entertainment said the lift has been out of action since mid-December.

He said: “We are in the process of fixing the lift as a matter of urgency.

“We have been in constant contact with a repairs team, working to rectify the problem.

“The work required has been more extensive than first anticipated which has caused a delay.

“We would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused while this necessary maintenance is carried out. We hope for the work to be completed as soon as possible.”
