Lifeboat launched to help dog walkers cut off by tide
Two dog walkers called for help after being cut off by the tide at Sandside.
Morecambe’s RNLI Inshore lifeboat was launched after a request from the coastguard to go to their assistance.
Within minutes of the call, the inshore lifeboat went toward the search area but were stood down before arriving on scene after the local coastguard team confirmed that the reported dog walkers with their dogs were safely ashore.
Morecambe RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Kevin Jackson said:”Although this incident was a false alarm, it was made with good intent and we would always rather respond and ensure that people are safe; than fail to do so and be sorry.”
The incident was at 12.56pm on Thursday, June 4.
