Lib Dems want Morecambe and Lancaster merger

THE Liberal Democrats want to merge Morecambe and Lancaster constituencies so our district has just one MP.

The bombshell proposal was made at a meeting at Manchester Town Hall to discuss boundary change plans for 2013 in the North West.

A Boundary Commission report which came out in September proposed only minor changes to Morecambe and Lunesdale.

It also said Lancaster should separate from Fleetwood, and that both Morecambe and Lancaster would continue to have separate MPs.

On Twitter, Morecambe MP David Morris said: “Morecambe should have its own MP, not merged with Lancaster.”

The meeting continues.
