Lancaster City’s opening pre-season friendly against Blackpool has been abandoned after a pitch invasion by a small section of Seasiders fans.

The group of around 20 Pool supporters entered the pitch with about 15 minutes to go at Giant Axe on Saturday, staging their latest protest at chairman Karl Oyston’s running of the club.

The game stood at 3-1 to Blackpool as both teams were taken off the field, referee Paul Kettlewell then deciding to abandon the game.

The final game of last season saw Pool’s game against Huddersfield abandoned when fans staged a pitch invasion at Bloomfield Road on a larger scale.
