The trio were part of the Fylde squad making the journey to London for a match at Richmond when they gave the woman CPR and used a defibrillator to shock her
before paramedics arrived.

Mrs Hill was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but she died on January 13.

In a statement the family have thanked the rugby club for coming to her aid, saying: “They gave us a few days to sit by her bed and say our goodbyes.”

Earlier in the week, Mrs Hill’s son Darren
wrote to the rugby club on behalf of the family to thank the medics for their actions.

He said: “I cannot thank you enough and I am for ever in your debt.”
