Lancaster student believed dead after joining ISIS

A former Lancaster University student is believed to have been killed fighting for ISIS in Syria.Khalif Shariff, 21, who studied law at the university in 2014, is thought to have died along with his brother Abdulrahman, who studied at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.The Manchester Evening News has reported that the brothers, from Old Trafford, fled to the war-torn country in November 2014. A uni spokesperson said: 'Lancaster University can confirm that Khalif Shariff was enrolled as a first year student in the autumn of 2014 but left the university shortly after the commencement of his course.'Their parents are believed to have been told by ISIS militants that Abdulrahman has been killed '“ and that his brother is missing, presumed dead.

Their parents are believed to have been told by ISIS militants that Abdulrahman has been killed – and that his brother is missing, presumed dead.

Mohammed Shafiq, chairman of the Greater Manchester-based Ramadhan Foundation, said ISIS had confirmed Abdulrahman had been killed and that his elder brother is missing, ‘presumed dead’.
