Lancaster, Morecambe and Carnforth win big at county tourism awards

That’s because some of our best attractions won big at the Lancashire Tourism Awards.

The Morecambe Vintage-by-the-Sea festival won Large Tourism Event, Lancaster Music CIC - the company behind the Lancaster Music Festival – won New Business, and Carnforth Station Heritage Centre won Best Small Visitor Attraction.

“We did it! “ said a spokesman for Deco Publique, co-organisers of Morecambe’s annual vintage festival, on their Facebook page.

“Thanks to all the wonderful, talented artists and performers that made this year’s programme so special and to everyone who works to make this event happen for Morecambe.”

Peter Crowther, chairman of Carnforth Station Trust, praised John Adams, Heritage Centre manager for his “persistence in striving to achieve the award for the last four years and on his day-to-day management of the Heritage Centre and his total involvement in the future development of the centre”.

Mr Crowther said: “The award is also well-earned recognition of the efforts of the volunteers and the board over a lengthy period of time and we are all still committed to improving the quality of the ‘visitor experience’.

Others from our district nominated for awards included Aspect Bar and Bistro, Leighton Moss at Carnforth, Lancaster House Hotel and The Bay Horse Inn at Lancaster.
