Lancaster’s Phil Metcalf has claimed the top spot at the national Heating Installer Awards 2020, after seeing off stiff competition from installers all over the UK.

Now in its fifth year, the award scheme celebrates the achievements and raises the credibility of plumbers and heating installers who deliver top quality work and excellent customer service on a daily basis, showcasing the superstars of the industry who often go unnoticed.

Based in Lancaster, Phil, of Phillip Metcalf Cooling and Heating Services, scooped the Heating Installer Awards North West regional title back in March, when a judging panel of industry experts whittled down hundreds of entries to just nine regional winners.

Phil impressed the judges with his attention to detail and positive impact his work has on customers.

He was then crowned the National Heating Installer Awards winner this week, following a peer-reviewed technical challenge and a huge public vote.

Phil set up his business six years ago and has worked hard over the years to grow his company, which serves customers all over Lancaster.

Speaking of his title as the national Heating Installer Awards winner 2020, he said: “I'm chuffed to bits to win this year's Heating Installer Awards especially given the high calibre of entries from the other regional winners.

"It's entirely humbling for me and my team to receive such acclaim from our peers and industry representatives.

“These awards play an important role to highlight the professionalism and hard work put in by heating engineers every day. Thank you to all those who've worked hard in the current challenging climate to put these awards together.”

Now that Phil has won the title he can enjoy industry-wide recognition and prizes provided by awards partners, Danfoss, Glow-worm, Polypipe and Stelrad, including product bundles, vouchers, a Spa break for two, and a money-can’t-buy trip to the Danfoss HQ in Denmark.

Previous winners have also noted a significant increase in business after their award win, meaning that Phillip can hopefully now look forward to a busy few months after an unusual start to the year due to the COVID-19 crisis.
