It has been a fantastic three years working with the Lancaster Guardian and The Visitor and I am absolutely proud of the remarkable transformations made both in paper, online and in the way we work as journalists in this new digital age.

It has been an honour and privilege to work in this absolutely beautiful area which has so much to offer – you are all very lucky to live and work in a place so blessed with natural and historical assets.

There are some fantastic, dedicated and caring people in Morecambe and Lancaster. I have been staggered by the outpourings of support for those in need and the culture of common goals.

As we have morphed into our constantly improving multi-media operation, you have supported us, got involved and increasingly had a say in the way we report the news.

I have to say a big thank you to my small but perfectly formed editorial team who have produced some fantastic work over the last three years and adapted to working as multi-media journalists, producing fantastic content and continuing to be passionate about the area and its people.

The Save Our Hospice campaign for St John’s Hospice is a real source of pride. You have helped us make a real difference to a service that has impacted on so many people’s lives. The amazing team there, with your support, are well on the way to solving the deficit problems but Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers will continue to raise as much money and awareness as possible.

I am not going far, just down the M6 to take on a new role as Group Editor of several weekly titles including Garstang Courier, Longridge News, Lytham St Annes Express, Fleetwood Weekly News and Chorley and Leyland Guardian.

I will also take on the Deputy Editorship of the Lancashire Evening Post, which also covers this area so if you need me you know where I am.

Again, many thanks to the professionals and members of the community I have worked with in the last three years and who are making a real difference.

But mainly I would like to thank you, our dedicated readers and contributors, who are the real backbone of these fantastic titles and have supported us in a changing era.

Wishing you all well in the future (and I hope the M6 link sorts out the traffic!)
