Chee Keong Cheung certainly has such high hopes for his new feature length film REDCON-1 which is now in post-production ahead of its release.

Having finished shooting the film, which took in locations including London, Edinburgh and Lancaster Castle, director Chee is keen to reach out to horror and action fans to help realise his dream.

“If they’re happy then maybe this movie can break out and we can realise some of our other ideas of turning this into the first part of a trilogy with graphic novels and more,” he said.

REDCON-1 sees eight Special Forces soldiers go on a suicide mission into the zombie-infested remains of the UK, to find a scientist who may hold the key to ending the viral outbreak that has turned the population into flesh-eating undead.

It stars Carlos Gallardo, producer of the acclaimed El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico trilogy. Gallardo is also executive producer alongside Kevin Eastman, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Former wrestler Katarina Waters (who wrestled as Katie Lea in WWE, Winter in TNA and wrestled regularly under the name Nikita at The Dome in Morecambe from 2003-6) is also part of the cast.

Chee, whose family run the Golden Dragon restaurant in Lancaster, this week attended the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California to promote his film.
