The Lancaster firm, which employs 140 experts across its offices in Lancaster, Bristol and London, has purchased the UK assets, goodwill and customer contracts from Reach Local UK Ltd, a national paid search specialist.

The deal expands Fat Media’s existing paid media department and client base, incorporating three additional staff, an industry award winning search marketing software platform and brings Fat Media’s client base to more than 400.

This latest move follows the acquisition of Bristol agency Strategy Digital last summer and the opening of a London office, to grow the Fat Media brand and offering into the South, offering employment opportunities and an unparalleled range of expertise.

Fat Media chief executive David Durnford said: “This deal complements our existing paid search offering in Bristol and helps bring even more clients into the Fat Media world as part of our aim to become the UK’s leading national full service digital agency.

“We plan to grow the Bristol team further, and are looking to recruit approximately eight experts across our service offerings over the next six months.

“Paid search is an important facet of any successful digital marketing strategy, and as the technology and approaches evolve in sophistication we are determined to be at the forefront of this market.

“ This acquisition provides us with the infrastructure to do just that.”

Fat Media’s clients include Typhoo, Warburtons, Wall’s Pastry and Lakeland. Meanwhile, Fat Media has been shortlisted in this year’s Red Rose Awards.

The 150 finalists were announced last week and the Fat Media team will now face a rigorous interview and presentation stage across two days before the winners are announced at a ceremony on March 10.

Co-founder John French, now their client services director, said the whole Fat Media family are delighted at the news that Fat Media will be up for the Creative Business Award.

He said: “We are thrilled at being nominated for a Red Rose Award because, as a company, we want to show just how great Lancashire is.”

Winners will be revealed on March 10.
