Digital design and marketing agency, Fat Media, have made it to the top of the class once more, winning Gold in the Heist Awards for Education Marketing for their work on the Lancaster University undergraduate prospectus.
Now in their 25th year, the internationally-recognised Heist Awards celebrate innovation and expertise in further and higher education marketing.
And representatives from the university picked up the award at the Roaring Twenties themed ceremony at The Palace Hotel, Manchester.
Claire Riding, head of marketing at Lancaster University, said: “I have been delighted with not just the quality of the finished work but also the innovative and creative approach taken in response to any brief, Fat Media have really helped us to bring the Lancaster University brand to life.”
Fat Media, with a headquarters in Lancaster and additional offices in Bristol and London, worked with Lancaster University for two cycles of their undergraduate recruitment activity, a key part of which is the prospectus.
The team refreshed the prospectus, following the university’s rebrand, and gave the previous text heavy editions an overhaul, developing a series of designs and infographics that segmented information on the page into more concise chunks of information.
Darren Dedrie lead designer at Fat Media, and the man responsible for the winning design, said: “Research showed that students wanted to be able to ‘raid’ a prospectus for information rather than read everything cover to cover.
“We wanted to create a prospectus that was different, highly tactile and would help raise awareness of Lancaster as a top 10 university.
“As lead designer, the most important factor for me was to create a prospectus that looked very different to its competitors, breaking away from a design featuring smiling happy students, or a picture of a university building.”
Fat Media is a leading digital marketing agency established in 2005. It employs 140 people. Clients include Lakeland, Walls Pastry, Jessops, Yotel Typhoo, Samsung, Pork Farms, Lancaster University and JD Sports.
