Lancaster councillors to share disabled role

Two Lancaster city councillors have joined forces across the political divide to help disabled people.

Labour councillor Claire Cozler and Conservative Melanie Guilding are the council’s new co-Champions for the Disabled.

Coun Cozler and Coun Guilding both volunteered for the newly-created role and after a vote of all councillors, it was decided they should share it.

Both Coun Cozler and Coun Guilding were elected to the council in May.

A ‘champion’ is appointed by the council to focus on a specific area or where a community group needs to ensure it is given due regard in relation to the activities of the council and its partners.
