It was less than three weeks since the last meeting between the sides when the Midlands outfit prevailed 3-0 on home soil.

They took the three points again in the return game with two Daniel Waldron goals in eight first-half minutes ultimately proving enough for victory.

His first of the afternoon came after a defensive error, Waldron firing low into the bottom corner beyond Elliot Wynne in the Lancaster goal with 17 minutes on the clock.

Glenn Steel then went close for the hosts on the half-volley but City were soon right up against it.

A series of passes from the visitors resulted in Waldron being in on goal again and for the second time he made no mistake to double his side’s lead in the 25th minute.

Phil Brown’s side were unable to find a way back into the game, Craig Carney and Sam Bailey both going close on a frustrating afternoon for the Dollies who sit 12th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
