A Lancaster bride-to-be needs to have a little ‘Patience’ as she waits to see whether the Take That frontman will perform at her wedding.
Melanie Haines, 30, is one of the many fans who has pursued Gary Barlow on Twitter after he announced he would pick five weddings to sing at this year.
Mr Barlow tweeted his plans to his 3.81m followers and was inundated with requests from across the country.
Melanie has been a fan since she was little and jumped at the chance to join in with the competition before her wedding arrives at the Ashton Memorial on May 15.
She said: “I guess I’ve always been a little bit of a fan, I remember spending all my pocket money at school on Take That stickers, hoping to do swaps with all the other kids!
“I admire him because he’s a northern lad who’s extremely down to earth and super talented, I love all his songs!
“I think what he’s doing, surprising people at their wedding is fab. I mean, who wouldn’t want Gary Barlow singing at their wedding! It would just make the day even more magical.”
A band has not been found yet for Melanie and her partner’s wedding which is why she is determined to get Gary to come along. Hundreds of tweets were sent to the singer from Melanie and her friends during the competition.
Melanie even recorded herself singing to one of Gary’s recent songs.
She said: “I tweeted as much as I could, as well as my friends, made up poems and made a video of me singing one of his recent songs!
“I’m probably not even in with a chance as I don’t even have that many Twitter followers but it has been lots of fun and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Gary originally began the competition, which is now over, for three couples but extended it due to demand.
The winners will not be announced.
