Drivers are being urged to pay extra attention to weather and driving conditions before setting out on journeys and to take extra care once they are out on the motorway and major A roads.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys before they set out, checking the forecast and road conditions, to leave extra time for their journeys if travel conditions are poor, and to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.

High winds are predicted for between 4pm and 8pm tomorrow night (January, 15) before the stormy weather starts to subside.

Road users should heed messages on the overhead signs and listen for radio updates.
