Lancaster and Morecambe may be hit by Boxing Day snow

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and strong winds for the North West.

Wet weather is expected to spread into and across most of Scotland, England and Wales during this Friday afternoon and evening.

Over northern England snow is likely to be confined to areas above 200 metres and may turn to rain in areas between 200 and 400 metres.

Wind is expected to increase through Friday evening and night.

The Met office are urging the public to keep an eye on weather updates over the next few days, especially those who have travel plans.
