Lancaster and Morecambe chess battle showdown
Up to 25 people signed up to challenge Nigel Davies at the event on Saturday September 26.
Nigel holds the International Grandmaster title and hails from Southport.

Hide AdHe played 18 opponents; the field was quite strong with a number of strong club players taking part; also participating were pupils from Lancaster Central High chess club.
Nigel’s final score was: 15 wins; two draws (to Morecambe players Norman Blade and John Lyth) and one defeat to Lancaster player Daniel Waller.
The play lasted two hours and afterwards Nigel went through some of the games with the players, analysing the games he didn’t win.
The event was backed by the Friends of Lancaster Library.
