IT glitch leaves Argos customers frustrated

ARGOS customers have vented their anger after an IT glitch brought down the site for several hours.

Argos apologised for Sunday’s glitch, which left many users unable to make purchases or place orders online, and said its site was now up and running again.

Twitter user @Traypt claimed he was having ongoing issues making purchases, adding: “Day three of trying to order bunk beds for my son, but I get errors every time after payment @Argos_Online”

User @Welshlinzi said the site should have apologised earlier for the “shambles”, adding: “I gave up and ordered with @AmazonUK instead.”

Referring to the high number of angry customers, @AlexGreem88 simply said: “Not sure I would want to be part of the @Argos_Online web team this morning.”

Argos has warned people to be vigilant of scammers looking to capitalise on this, stressing the firm would never ask customers to hand over personal information in an unsolicited email.

Argos said in a statement on Sunday: “We are extremely sorry for the temporary service issues our customers were experiencing on our website this afternoon.

“We have identified and fixed the issue and our site is now up and running.

“We apologise to any customer who has tried to contact us unsuccessfully today and we are working to respond to all enquiries as soon as we can.”

Back in April, another IT glitch meant customers could only pay by cash and had trouble collecting online orders.

Some stores were even forced to close on Good Friday, one of the busiest times for the retailer.

Others had problems with their land lines, meaning many shoppers could not to check beforehand if they were still open.
