The play, about a retired cricket umpire and avowed socialist, features scenes from the Midland Hotel in Morecambe. It follows Godfrey Shackleton who celebrates his recent lottery win with a lads’ trip to Morecambe and a beer or two.

His life changes once again when he bumps into widow, Betty, who’s visiting the Lancashire resort on a ladies’ bowling trip with Clitheroe Conservative Club.

Love, loss, hope, happiness, struggles and smiles, all come together in this charming tale of finding love in the third age. But the path of romance doesn’t always run smoothly.

Talking Stock were last at Christ Church in November when they raised 2,000 for Lancaster’s St John’s Hospice, with a performance of the award-winning play ‘Le Grand Return’, in memory of theatre-loving family man, Keith Roach.

Keith was a former vice-chairman of Morecambe Football Club, a county councillor and a devoted servant of local musical theatre.

Catherine Pasek, talking stock producer, said: “We can’t wait to come back to these two wonderful venues and share these fabulous stories.”
